Dades Valley
Spectacular gorges, ancient kasbahs, and rose-scented oases.
The Dades Valley — the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs — runs east from Ouarzazate toward the Todra Gorge through terraced gardens, canyon walls and kasbahs on every bend. The famous switchbacks above Boulmane Dades offer one of the country’s great road views. Travellers pass through on every Marrakech–Merzouga itinerary, usually overnighting in a valley guesthouse. Walkers can explore the Monkey Toes rock formations; photographers should time the bends for late afternoon light.
