Imlil is the trailhead for Toubkal — North Africa’s highest peak at 4,167 m — and the easiest taste of High Atlas life from Marrakech, 90 minutes away. Walnut groves, mule tracks, Berber guesthouses and waterfall walks make it a destination in its own right. Travellers come for day hikes, two-day Toubkal ascents, or simply mountain air and views up the Mizane valley. Winter can bring snow; spring and autumn are ideal for walking.
