Het culturele hart — de oudste universiteit ter wereld en een middeleeuwse medina.

Fes is de spirituele en intellectuele hoofdstad van Marokko. De door UNESCO beschermde medina, Fes el-Bali, behoort tot de grootste nog levende middeleeuwse steden ter wereld. De leerlooierij Chouara, de Universiteit van Al-Qarawiyyin en de doolhofachtige steegjes maken haar volstrekt uniek.
