에르그 셰비(Erg Chebbi)는 모로코 남동부, 메르주가 마을 바로 옆에 펼쳐진 사하라 사막의 거대한 사구 지대입니다. 길이 약 22km, 폭 5km의 모래언덕은 빛의 각도에 따라 주황에서 금빛, 다시 진홍빛으로 색을 바꿉니다. 메르주가는 에르그 셰비로 들어가는 관문 역할을 하며, 대부분의 여행자는 이 마을에서 낙타 트레킹이나 4x4 차량으로 사구에 들어갑니다. 노을 지는 낙타 트레킹으로 사막 캠프에 도착해 별이 가득한 하늘 아래 베르베르 음악과 함께 하룻밤을 보내는 것이 이곳의 대표적인 사하라 경험입니다. 방문 최적 시기는 무더위가 완화되는 10월부터 4월까지이며, 사막은 밤에 쌀쌀해질 수 있으니 겉옷을 챙기는 것이 좋습니다.
